This afternoon at approximately 3:55 PM, Mahopac Falls Fire Department was dispatched to Mexico Lane for a report of a tree and wires down, sparking a brush fire.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered active fire involving downed wires. Due to the electrical hazard, firefighters secured the area and awaited the utility company while working to contain the fire from spreading further.

Residents are reminded to stay clear of downed power lines and always assume they are live. If you see a hazardous situation, report it immediately to 911 and your utility provider.

Mahopac Falls FD cleared the scene once the fire was contained and the area was made safe.
