This evening, Mahopac Falls Fire and EMS held an essential training exercise to mark EMS Week (May 19-25,2024). The scenario involved a simulated mass casualty incident (MCI) caused by a BBQ fire explosion, presenting multiple injuries for our team to manage.

Upon mock dispatch, the initial report of a propane fire/explosion was confirmed by the first arriving police officer. Our crews arrived promptly to the scene of a simulated BBQ fire and several injured individuals requiring immediate attention.

19-4-3 was the first unit on the scene, staffed with a driver, an officer, and crew. While crews worked to extinguish the simulated BBQ fire, 19-7-1 and 19-7-2 arrived to handle patient triage and treatment, demonstrating our preparedness for real-life emergencies.

Exercises like these are crucial in maintaining our readiness to protect the community. We’re proud of our team's dedication and skill.
