This afternoon, at approximately 4:05 pm, Mahopac Falls Fire and EMS, in conjunction with Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department EMS and Carmel Police Department, were dispatched to Agor Lane following reports of an incident involving a fallen tree atop an occupied school bus.

Upon arrival, 2nd Assistant Chief Tompkins promptly assessed the situation where he discovered a school bus, occupied by a driver and 25 children, stranded in the middle of the road, its front end severely damaged by a sizable tree entangled with wires.

Immediate action was taken to ensure the safety of all individuals involved. The bus’s occupants were swiftly evacuated and examined on-site by both Mahopac EMS and an Empress Supervisor. Fortunately, injuries sustained during the incident were deemed minor, and all individuals involved declined further medical attention.

In a commendable display of efficiency, Mahopac Central School District Transportation swiftly coordinated transportation arrangements for the affected students. Simultaneously, they promptly notified all relevant parties responsible for the well-being of the children.

Mahopac Falls Fire & EMS returned to service and the scene was turned over to NYSEG and the Town of Carmel Highway Dept.
